Ariana had caught wind that one of her beloved Uncles was going to be in Hogsmede for a visit and her brother was intent on hogging him all too himself! It wasn't fair an it wasn't right! Remus was her uncle too! Of course if she had the choice between Remus and Sirius though Ari would choose Sirius as her favorite uncle but that it didn't matter, she still loved an adored Remus and Harry wasn't getting him all to himself.
Thus Ari got up a bit early to go to Hogsmede and catch Remus before Harry did. She wasn't overtly fond of the Three Broomsticks simply because it seemed like everyone went there, besides there was the shrieking shack to freak people out about and Zonkos to go to! She was getting low on pranking supplies and as the upholder of the Marauder name as she liked to think of herself she could not do without them, but a nice lovely little detour to see her uncle and annoy the crap out of her brother was well worth the delay.
Thus when she saw the older man, at least he looked old, really anyone her parent's age was old in her mind over near the bar she dashed forward with a burst of energy calling out "REMUS!" as she rushed forward and embraced him tightly, a smile splitting across her face. She knew she had surprised her uncle but he didn't seem to be complaining, though Remus never really was the type to complain which she thought was odd seeing as he put up with a lot of crap. If she were him she would have done a lot of complaining and make people aware of what was bothering her.

Remus loved hearing from those that he would consider his extended family. They were what helped him keep his sanity and in some ways pieces of his humanity. They meant the world to him and he would be there for them no matter what. This was why Remus was more than glad to visit with Harry on one of his Hogsmede weekends.
Though Remus loved both Potter children, it seemed that Remus found himself closer to Harry than to Airiana. He adored her as well and would never admit to favoritism, but Ari was a fire cracker taking after her father and Sirius and her antic typically caused Remus to smile while Harry, Harry was the odd man out being sorted into Slytherin. Remus above all things identified very well with that outcast feeling, and it seemed clear to him while others missed it that Harry felt left out and ignored. Not that the younger boy would admit it. That was one thing Remus knew well of Harry that he was prideful much like both his parents. James taking his pride and being cocky while Lily didn't take things lying down.
The short of the long was Remus enjoyed spending time with Harry and being there for him when he needed and continuing to teach him outside of school when he could. Remus had always known that Harry was bright, but in his class when he had taught Harry had been a rather exceptional student, out shining many of his peers in focus and skills. It made Remus feel quite proud and even privileged to be able to teach him in his third year it was just unfortunate that he could not have continued to teach there at Hogwarts. It was by far one of Remus' favorite jobs.
So, Remus waited near the bar in Hogsmede waiting for Harry to arrive when he was suddenly attacked with a rather tight and energetic hug from his 'niece' Ariana. "Ari! I did't expect to see you!" he answered in surprise as he wrapped his arms around the young girl. Though he wasn't expecting her he was glad to see her all the same. "Harry tell you that he was going to be meeting me here today?" he asked almost suspecting that that wasn't the case. He was going to be in for an interesting time considering Ariana and Harry were like fire and water when placed near each other.

date: 17 september 2005; saturday [/b][/size] bout a quarter hour later, Harry and Nymphadora showed up, right on time for his meeting with his favourite uncle. The young Slytherin was all smiles as he opened the door, chattering cheerfully with Tonks. They hadn't yet found The Gift for Hermione, but Tonks had promised to keep looking and meet up with him again later before he went back to Hogwarts and Harry had absolute faith in her to be wacky and embarrassing and fun. She was precisely the sort of big sister he would have hated having, teased mercilessly to pieces, but as a cousin-type he didn't live with, she was great. When he entered the Three Broomsticks, however, the smile instantly dropped off his face as his expression clouded over. Tonks had wondered if Ariana might show up but Harry let himself hope that she wouldn't be. He'd kept the trip tight-lipped, after all. But there were plenty of other people who knew Remus, and god damn it all to hell, it looked like one of them had slipped up to baby sister. He actually heard Ariana before he saw her, but it was enough. He loved Ariana and would do anything to protect her; he'd also done his fair share of threatening peers who'd eye her in ways he didn't approve of. Even so, no amount of family love kept him from wanting to strangle the little brat sometimes."Ari," he barked out as he approached, eyes narrowed. "Fancy seeing you here. What a distinctly unpleasant surprise." Switching his gaze to Remus, his expression went back to a smile like flicking on a switch. (Being in Slytherin had taught him some things, after all, and one such skill was controlling his expressions.) "Hey, Remus."[/ul]

As infuriating as a teenage boy could be, there was something infinitely calming when it came to hanging out with the youngsters. Not that Harry was really a youngster; he frankly wasn't all that much younger than her. But still just young enough for Tonks, at times, to feel a sort of obligation towards him, a desire to not only be fun and silly and mischievous and laugh with him, but to act the adult, too. The elder sibling, if you could call it that - respectful and worth listening to, a mentor worth looking up to. And in way, it was...soothing. One might think it would be more stressful, especially for a free spirit such as herself, but it...really wasn't. It was easy, relaxed...laughing. Laughter.
Even when they were teasing each other mercillessly.
"Ack!"
Apparently gravity wasn't the only thing out to antagonise her as per usual. No, the elements seemed hell-bent on embarrassing her too, and though it wasn't all that much of a breeze, it was just windy enough so that Tonks was forced to grab the ends of her skirt - just in case - though she nearly lost her sunglasses in the process, barely catching them by some miracle on the very edge of her teeth as they slid down her nose. It really was rather breezy, and the backdraft the opening door caused didn't help matters, and she was just paranoid enough about the cool wind stinging her calves to keep a firm, warning grip on the pleated skirt. Because she really, really didn't fancy showing off her knickers to the Three Broomsticks.
Probably not very attractive knickers anyway. She couldn't remember what ones she'd yanked out of her drawer this morning, but considering it had been a work day up until an hour ago, and she'd hardly been out to impress anyone...
Of course, all thoughts of knickers promptly left her mind in a way that was becoming more and more familiar these days. Which was probably a good thing, because thinking of one's knickers in the same context as Remus kind of really had the potential to be embarrassing. Which she didn't need. Not that it mattered, really; she sensed before she actually felt the tingle in her scalp, if that made sense, the minute she caught Remus's eye. A quick glance confirmed the worst; her very Potterish black hair had turned pink at the tips.
Shit.
It took an enormous amount of self-control, but Tonks managed, forcing the pink to retreat from her hair before it grew any worse without scrunching her face too obviously, and praying to whatever gods existed that no one had really noticed. And if they had, they wouldn't pay heed to it...just brush it off as Tonks having a spontaneous moment with her hair.
Despite that, though, there was one thing Tonks had not noticed occuring. It wasn't as obvious, really, as her hair had been - not unless you were really looking...her eyes were brown. As in, their natural dark, chocolatey brown, as opposed to the brilliant green they'd been moments before. They'd changed when her hair had tipped pink, and yet she'd failed to actually realise. Curiouser and curiouser, really.
"Oi. Be nice," Dora growled playfully, elbowing Harry none too gently when he barked at his sister. The young Auror arched her eyebrows scoldingly at the boy, giving him a pointed look even as her lips twitched suspiciously. Otherwise, she let him be, instead turning her attention to the poor, tormented terror Ariana, offering the younger girl her characteristic quirky, playful grin and holding her hands up and a little out in a half-dramatic gesture of surprise.
"Oi, wotcher, Ari. And...well, surprise?" Tonks grin widened a little, and she shrugged both shoulders sheepishly before finally offering Remus a greeting over Ariana's head.
"Oh yeah, wotcher to you too." It was a thoroughly bored sounding greeting. As if she'd only just noticed him. Which was a complete lie. And it might have worked, had it not been completely belied by the playful twinkle in dark eyes, the little, lopsided grin. And the very subtle warmth of tone.

After pulling out of her hug Ari gave her uncle a look that spoke the concept of 'seriously'. Why on earth would Harry tell her about their uncle visiting? The git liked to horde their uncle to themselves. For a smart person Uncle Remus could be really thick! She probably would have said as such if it weren't for the fact that her name was barked as Harry entered the pub. She rolled her eyes at his drawl about her presence there being unwelcome.
When Tonks greeted her Ariana let out a bit of a shriek of excitement and dashed from Remus to her favorite 'cousin' and hugged her. She fixed a glare at her brother for hoarding not only Remus but Tonks as well. "What brings you here?" She asked Tonks with a smile as she greeted Remus. Ariana didn't think twice about the greeting exchanged between the two of them though Remus did seem just a little different in that moment. It was hard to pin point and so she dismissed it and fixed a glare on her brother once more.
"Don't think for one minute I was going to let you keep Remus all to yourself! He's my uncle too!" She figured she wouldn't say anything about Tonkd just yet though she was totally thinking it and was rather certain that Harry knew it too. If he didn't he would at the very least get an ear full of it later, and she wasn't above not tattling on her brother to their parents about the whole ordeal. Seriously why did brothers have to be so annoying?

One look from Ariana and Remus knew the answer to his question. Truth be told the answer was pretty obvious that Harry wouldn't tell his little sister about meeting up with him but still one could hope that there would be peace found on some sort of level between the two Potter children. It was a fool hope but still a hope held all the same. Remus knew deep down they loved each other even if they did fight and bicker. It was the same with Harry and James and Sirius they didn't always see eye to eye and get along but the love was there all the same. That was the funny thing about the people he called friends and pretty much family they had funny ways of showing love and care for one another.
Of course no sooner did he get the answer to his question from Ari did Harry enter the pub and start barking at his sister in annoyance but really that wasn't Remus focus as the black haired woman who entered the room caught his attention even before she spoke he knew who it was and it surprised him as he wasn't expecting Dora to be present as well. He sat up a little straighter and found himself just a little bit uncomfortably as she approached. It wasn't a matter that Remus didn't like Dora, that wasn't a problem the problem was that he liked her a bit too much if he was honest with himself and that was where the real trouble lay. His private thoughts had been a little too laced with images of Dora for his comfort and it was something that could easily have been ignored if it weren't for the fact that she stood there being greeted by Ariana who he knew adored her and he greeted Harry with a friendly clap on the shoulder, partly as a form of greeting and a silent reassurance that it will be okay they'll get their talk in without his sister snooping around. He returned the boy's warm smile, "Hello Harry."
Then Dora greated him as well and he would have taken it for the way she was meaning to play it and been grateful because then that would help him keep her out of his thoughts but he caught the light in those warm chocolate brown eyes and the briefest of smiles. He smiled kindly in return, trying not to evoke anything in particular in his tone. "Hello Dora. I didn't know you were going to be in town today." He looked to Harry to see if this was information the younger boy neglected to mention though he failed to see why Harry would do such and want to meet up with the both of them.
