When one entered the library one expected to see a sea of books neatly organized on shelves and that is indeed what one saw in the library unless they dared venture to the back corner of the library. Then there they would see a swamp of disorganized books scattered across a table that was probably set for four people with one lone occupant drowning in the texts and information.
That said lone occupant was none other than Seamus Finnigan head in hands a perfect picture of being stressed out. Why had he put his name in the cup? Why had he agreed to this? Oh that is right! That stupid bloody blue fire. It was appealing, it called his name with it's hypnotizing dance. Okay so it was more than just the flames but it was a strong contributing factor. It sounded fun at the time and the possibility of being chosen seemed quite slim until now. Now, he was the Gryffindor Champion and people were looking to him to bring the house glory. Damn, he was screwed.
The pressure of it all caused Seamus to retreat from the common room where everyone seemed to be looking to him wanting to know what he had done to prepare for some unknown task. When he had nothing he felt guilt at the looks of the younger years and judged by those who were older and had put their name in the cup. This was what drove him to research, but the problem was what was he supposed to research? He knew nothing about the up and coming task so he pulled out books on all sorts of topics and was trying to stuff his brain with as much information as he could and now he was drowning in the texts and information overload. What was the point of keeping the task secret? How was he supposed to cope and do this? Damn.

Cali had been a little stressed lately, she had been studying quite hard as she was scheduled to take a practice healer test before Christmas and it was a little nerve racking. Madame Pomfrey had told her not to worry about it as she should be fine and had over the qualifications needed for her practice exam, but she still could not help but worry. She had been taking time out once a week to go to the library and cram for everything. She usually went to the back corner as not as many students went back there.
As she walked in the library she passed by the grumpy librarian who gave her a judging look, she did that to most students anyway. While making her way back to the corner Cali stopped and looked over some of the medical type books grabbing a few as she let her mind wander. The house tournament champion had been chosen tonight and she was rather excited to watch it all happen. She had not entered her name herself as she was already fully stressed with this practice exam and did not want to add anymore stress to herself. She was happy although with the choice, Seamus Finnigan, although she did not know much about him she was sure he would be fine.
Cali continued back to the back corner of the library and saw someone there spread out amongst four chairs looking thoroughly stressed out and realized it was Seamus their new Gryffindor champion. As she approached she looked around her books and said, “Do you mind if I join you back here?” She nodded toward the empty table beside him and said, “If you would like to be alone I can go somewhere else.” Cali always tried to be respectful of everyone and she did not want to aggravate this boy as she could tell he looked stressed and a bit lost in the books that he had as they were a bunch of random subjects.

Seamus was ready to allow his head to thunk the table when a voice snuck in to break his self pitting. He looked up in surprise to see Cole standing there. She didn't seem to be judging him and really what right did he have to say she couldn't choose to sit where she pleased? "Er - yeah -sure," he answered as his mind slowly jumped back to reality. A light joke popped in his head. "It might help ta keep me from fill that table as well with books." he smiled a bit realizing how ridiculous he had gotten with the books and trying to study and prepare for a competition he knew nothing about.
Then the misery hit him again and he realized he was no better off and the first task still loomed over him. But instead of wallowing back into his misery considering he now had company he decided maybe a distraction was good. Mind if I ask what yer studying?" He asked kindly trying to get a glimpse of what Cole may have had with her. Maybe even she was studying something that could help him out with the first task but that was a bit of wishful and desperate thinking.

Cali smiled and said, "It does seem as though you are overwhelmed by books. I'm not for sure if you will ever finish reading them." Cali smiled as she sat at the first open spot available. She smiled looking around at the books and said, "So you seem to be rather stressed out about all of this, I mean I don't blame you I probably would be too." She was of course referring to him being chosen and how stressful that must be, she was now secretly glad she had not entered her name.
"I am studying for my practice healer test, I take it before Christmas. It actually has me rather frazzled although I'm sure I will do good. It is just a little stressful considering I've wanted to be a healer most of my life." She shrugged a little as she turned to look at him. She could talk to him as a distraction so she wasn't stressing over the material she had already read about one hundred times before and she was sure by the piles of books that he probably needed a distraction too.

Seamus was able to let out something of a smile at Cali's comment about his being overwhelmed with books and hardly being able to get through the ones he already had. "Yeah, I guess you could say tha'" agreed Seamus with a nod of his head. Which also went with her comment about him seeming to be a little stressed as well.
"So I guess we are in the same boat, both bein' stressed about somethin' you about yer exams me about - well about a competition that I was stupid enough to sign up for." Seamus shook his head in disbelief. If he could get out things he'd consider it but it was a binding magical contract and he was in this for the long haul. Damn him and his stupidity.
"Sorry just havin' a moment. I'll let yah study for yer test. I hope yah do well." He offered grabbing one of his books and opening it up to see if there was something he could look up that could help him with the tasks that were ahead.

Cali nodded in agreement as he agreed when she mentioned him having more books than he could possibly study. There were books everywhere and as she looked around examining them a little she realized he was all over the place with the topics of the books.
Cali smiled a little as Seamus mentioned being stupid for signing up for the tournament. She felt a little bad for him as she could see how stressed he was about the whole situation. "You are not stupid for signing up for the tournament, I actually think you are rather brave for doing it." She gave him a small smile as she said, "I think you will do fine. If I were you I would study defensive magic because I would not want to not be able to fight off something coming after me. Also, from what I have heard you are good at making things blow up, so if all else fails you could always go that route." Cali smiled a little as she looked over at him. She knew he would do fine in the competition but she understood being nervous.
Cali smiled as he mentioned letting her study for her test and said, "Actually, I should probably let you study. I'm really well prepared for the test, just feel like any last minute studying I can do may help although it probably won't."She grinned a little looking down at one of her books and opening it to a random page. She had read them all so many times it did not matter which page she opened to anymore she knew them all.

Seamus couldn't help but smile a bit as Cali told him that he was brave for signing up for the competition and said that he would do fine. She was probably the first person that wasn't a close friend to think and say so and it felt pretty good. It had an odd sort of calming effect on him. "Yer right, I should probably get a bit more focus," Seamus closed a few books and put them to the side. He was good at blowing things up maybe the first test would have something to do with fire and he was a pro with that stuff!
He paused a moment as he sifted through the books that were piled around him finding the ones that focused on defense and setting the others to the side. Maybe he could just check out these few have them on him to show that he was preparing which he was and let it go at that. Really maybe he did have a fighting chance at this cup tournament thing!
He smiled again and looked at Cali, "I know it may not seem like much or somethin' but thanks" he spoke up realizing that Cali in some ways had helped him more than a lot of other people could have. He smiled and took the books he was going to check out with him. "I'll uh - see ya around Cole"

Cali smiled as she noticed Seamus' mood change, he seemed more calm and determined not to mention he seemed more focused now. She enjoyed helping people and she was glad she was actually able to help calm him down. She knew he was going to do just fine at the tournament as long as he stayed calm and kept a level head. "It's no problem I'm just glad I could help you. If you need help with anything just let me know."She smiled as she looked down at her pile of books and read down a page a little.
