Not even a month into the school year and Seamus already had detention and it wasn't even really his fault! What didn't the professor get about it being an accident? Maybe it was the fact that he sniggered a little at the incident but really it kid of was funny. It was charms class and he'd been partnered with a prat of a partner who was mouthing off and bragging in such a way that it was rather quite annoying but it wasn't like Seamus purposefully exploded the tea cozy. Though the results were amusing!
His attention had wandered to the pretty face across the way as she started to giggle a bit. Giggling while annoying on some was annoying it was kind of cute on her as it made her cheeks pink and it crinkled her nose. With out thinking he waved his wand and misspoke the incantation and there was a loud poof which is surprising as one wouldn't think that tea cozies could make such a noise but it did, and there was a simmering spot on the desk and the smoldering cloth (the thing had been quite ugly with a bright floral pattern) sat upon the head of his partner who was now sporting a soot black face and wearing a face of complete and utter shock. It was bloody hilarious. The skirt that had distracted him giggled and he couldn't help but snigger at the whole situation which was enough for Flitwick to determine that it may not have been an accident.
Seamus argued which let to Flitwick stating that if that were the case the detention would teach him well enough to pay attention in class. Thus Seamus was now walking down the hall about mid evening wondering if he had time to catch up with Luna that night or if she would need to get back to Ravenclaw while he and Neville hung out in Gryffindor tower though really he had homework to do considering none of it got done in detention as he had to do lines for Flitwick. How was he supposed to write an essay if his hand was pinching from all those lines? What was the point of lines anyway? At least it was better than dealing with stinking polish and doing the trophies. He let out a sigh as he adjusted his bag on his shoulder and took to rubbing the cramp that was in his hand as he sauntered down the hall wondering what his best bet was for the night.

Seamus glanced up in surprise at seeing his best mate. He was glad to see him but a bit sad at the same time as that because that meant that he had indeed missed hanging out with both of his best friends. Still as Neville pointed out there was next time so he wasn't going to let the whole situation get him down too much. "Things went as good as detention could go" answered Seamus with a non-committal shrug as he continued to rub his hand a bit. It still twinged from the lines a bit. "Flitwick gave me lines like he usually does" he explained to his best friend with a frown and a shake of his head.
"Clean near wrote me arm off," he grumbled a bit. Really it wasn't the worst of detentions he could have been doing trophies which was smelly work at least it was smelly to him, that polish had a smell to it that Seamus would prefer to live without but knew he was destined to deal with in the semi-near future and that was something he wasn't looking forward to.
"I think the worst of it is tha' I still have a bit of an essay to write," Seamus shook his head dreading having to slave his hand away to more writing when it was already twinging a bit. "Ya think I can put the thing off to later?" he asked somewhat hopeful that Neville would agree that maybe he could because he wanted nothing more than the get back to the common room kick back and relax maybe try to talk Neville or a few others into a game of Exploding Snap. Of course the latter was going to be difficult to come by as the cards tended to explode a lot with him but that was the fun of the game really.

Despite any negative feeling that remained from detention Seamus was finding himself in a better mood now that he was catching up with his best mate, though when Neville spoke the words 'lienent' and 'Snape' in the same breath the young Irish boy gave pause. "Don' tell me ya just used the words lienenet and Snape in the same context! I don't think it is possible! Those two words jus' don't belong together! It's just not possible mate as much as we both hate 'im, he's nothin' more than a cruel greasy git and it's all he'll ever be." Seamus shook his head at his best mate and the idea of Snape being more lenient.
"If it weren't for the fact that you an' Luna are me best mates I'd say detention was," joked Seamus to Neville's remark about them being quite familiar with detention. "Sure I like explosions but some times they jus' happen, same with you an dropin' things. You'd think some professor would be more understanin" Again Seamus shook his head with a slight frown though his mood was no longer negative and had even stopped rubbing his hand.
When Neville stated that he could probably wait on his essay he smiled. He knew the truth as much as Neville but having another person say that he could wait made it easier to ignore the truth and he nodded his head glad of the idea of hanging out with his best mate rather than doing some stupid work, maybe he could get some help from Luna, she was a year younger but was rather bright. Then Neville mentioned the game to end all games and Seamus broke out into an ear to ear grin. He clapped Neville on the back and responded, Is thar any other game?" the answer was of course yes, but for Seamus Snap was the end all and be all of games and there were none that came close in comparison.

"Seriously Neville ya give 'im too much credit," answered Seamus shaking head, "And I think ya mean the day he leaves Hogwarts will be a goood day. I bet ya there'll be celebrations!" Seamus smiled there was not hiding that he didn't have any love the hook nosed slimy git. It was astounding anyone learned potions from him.
When Neville knocked something over almost as if on que Seamus couldn't help but smile and shake his head taking a seat on the floor, it seemed that the room tensed though a bit as Neville pulled out a pack of snap cards before chucking his bag out of the way before giving him half the pack.
"Yeah, Luna gave it ta me right off," answered Seamus showing off his orange and white one. He really liked it, a few people seemed to think it was weird but he didn't care, they were special. "I don remember what all she said about em but I like em." He played his next card down.

"Now tha I can drink to!" spoke Seamus with a smile though he'd probably want to sneak and break out the fire-whiskey and Rum if he could cause that sort of miracle of Snape leaving called for the strong spirits. Too bad he hadn't come up with or found a spell to turn water into rum or whiskey. Weak tea was all he could manage which just wasn't his thing.
It was true that Neville in some ways was too nice. Seamus loved Neville like a brother and didn't want him to change for the world but in some ways Neville's niceness could do him in. Really Seamus wouldn't be surprised if Neville would try to see the good even in You-Know-Who and that was beyond his own reckoning, and that idea worried him some. Seamus didn't want to loose Neville because he tried to see the good in He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. But Seamus did't worry about it long as right now was not the time to worry but rather to have fun playing Snap.
Seamus was quick to play his next card eager for the explosion as that was the best part. Most people played for it not to explode as that was the point of the game to not be the person it exploded on but Seamus was always tempted to loose the game simply for the explosion. Okay so maybe he was a little messed up in the head for that one but meh, everyone had their little oddities, his love of fire and explosions was his. "Yeah tha does sound about righ' " agreed Seamus with a nod of his head.
Seamus continued to listen to Neville making a mental note to put in a double effort not to get detention because the meteor shower was something he did not want to miss. He probably would have said something to the effect of not wanting to miss it and even joke about detention again but Neville's next question caught Seamus by surprise a little.
"Wha do you mean?" asked Seamus with curiosity. "I don' remember many of my dreams but some of them do kinda stick with me, like the time I dreamed I lost me mam." He shook his head to explain his feelings of the memory and to brush the thoughts away. "It still kinda sticks with me."
