The late September Saturday afternoon had been fairly quite. The sun gleamed high warming the air to the mid 60's as it had been chilly for a few days. Izzy had spent most of the day off by herself taking pictures of this and that. She had managed captured a few good shots of the Whomping Willow in action before making her way to the gardens. The Hufflepuff had heard that the Priphea Flowers had bloomed and was hoping to get a picture or two.
She stepped lightly through the gardens humming has bag swung gently at her side. Plants brushed against her bare legs and taller ones grabbed at the hem of her dress as she walked farther into the gardens. Izzy peered around the rows and rows of plants looking for Professor Sprout or Neville, if he was down here, as he would know where the Professor was. "Professor Sprout?" she called out the loudest her generally meek French voice would go. The small woman popped out from behind a row of odd looking bushes. "Yes, my dear. Oh, Izabel! It's you. The flowers are just down this way."
Izzy followed the professor to the far end of the gardens listening as the women chattered on about the flowers and the gardens and school. She made quiet comments that encourage the professor to continue. As the red haired girl snapped a dozen or so pictures, Professor Sprout fussed about her asking about her summer and her family. Gently, Izzy slipped the camera in her bag. "They're fine. My summer was okay but I'm happy to be back," she said with a small smile. "That's good, dear. Hogwarts is glad to have you back here," the woman beamed at the quiet girl, "Oh, looks like there is a storm rolling in. Better get back inside the castle, dear." Izzy looked out over the forest to the darkening sky and said goodbye to the professor.
On her way to the castle, the girl walked slowly watching the sky as the storm came in over head. She watched with her light eyes as the sky grew dark and dangerous. Lightening flashed and when the thunder roared she stopped walking. Izzy reached in her bag for her camera when the shy opened up and rain started to pour. For a moment she thought about just standing there as it rained, but when lightening brightened the sky again she took off running for the large oak doors. A large smile played on her lips as the rain poured over her.
She had managed to slip into the castle quietly and made her way back to her dorm. Her hair and clothes were by no means soaked but anyone could clearly see she had been outside. In her dorm, she quickly changed out of her wet dress into warmer clothes/ She ventured out to the common room with her journal in hand and hair still damp. Izzy gave smile smiles to the few other Hufflepuffs there before finding a spot near the fire. The rain had left a chill on her skin. She sat sideways in the chair with her feet on the arm rest, opened up her journal and wrote as the fire warmed her.

Unfortunately, some had not been as lucky as Izzy had when it came to escaping the rain so quickly. Jake himself had been outside when the storm had rolled in, though rather than stick to the greenhouses, he'd left Professor Sprout hours ago in search of prospective plants mentioned that grew at this time of the year and near the Lake. And that was where he'd been - the Lake, on one of the very few occasions where he might be caught venturing close to, if not in, deeper water. Which was probably also why he'd gotten caught like he had in the storm; he'd been a damn sight further away from the safety and warmth of the castle when the skies broke.
Now out of the rain and in the castle, Jake kept running, his shoes squelching wetly against the stone floors and his thick, shaggy hair slapping sharply, drenched and plastered to his skull as he did so. Even out of the rain, he didn't fancy being caught out by the caretaker, Argus Filch, or his crazy cat. Not that it was against the law to be soaking wet when one was caught in the rain, but even if he couldn't give him detention for it, Filch was likely to have a right fit at the mess to his precious floors.
Panting heavily - testament to how hard he'd had to run, especially considering how fit the lad was normally - Jake forced himself to take the time and pay attention as he tapped the rhythm that would let him into the Hufflepuff Common Room, not fancying a sharp, acrid spray of vinegar on top of already being soaked to the bone.
Thankfully, he was saved from such a thing, and the barrels barely opened to permit him access before he crawled in, shivering as the warmth of the Common Room hit his frozen bones. The thought of a shower briefly crossed his mind, but the lure of the fire preyed on the Spanish lad's senses, drawing him quickly over to it's warmth to the exclusion of all else. Once there, he promptly shed his woolen and utterly useless jumper, pausing to shake his head and hair free of water in a manner not dissimilar to a dog so it--
"Oh! Shite, sorry Izzy! I didn't--hang on, lemme--" Apparently it was a myth that all Seventh Years were suave and too cool for all others, for Jake not only stuttered and blushed under his brown skin abashedly at spraying the girl with water, but took out his wand to dry her - or her journal, if need be, off.
"I didn't mean to get you. I was down at the far end of the Lake, you see, and..."
