Stupid brother and stupid brother's friends, leaving her to deal with her stupid, stupid luggage! Ariana grumbled to her self and she tried working her trunk which had found itself stuck on something. What it was was beyond her and she really didn't care and felt like she didn't have time to figure out what it was that was keeping her trunk stationary there on the platform. After another tug of her trunk she gave up exasperatedly and kicked the stupid thing out of spite.
Who ever created trunks needed to drug out on to the street and shot. At least she thought that was a fitting punishment. She had read that in a Muggle cartoon with an orange cat. He said who ever created Mondays needed to be drug out into the street and shot. It was funny though she wasn't quite sure what being shot was it didn't sound good and she liked the line. Those who were muggles or muggle born either laughed if she said or reacted kind of scared. So it worked for her to use even if she didn't know the whole meaning of the phrase.
Of course kicking the stupid trunk was not exactly the brightest idea Ari had ever had though as she wound up stubbing her toe causing her to flinch and hop on one foot for a minute. "Blast it all!" she cursed before slamming the stupid thing with her hand. She hated this thing and she hated how NO ONE seemed to want to help her. She could of course ask for help but she was above such things. So with a huff she folded her arms and decided maybe staring the stupid thing into submission would solve her problems. (Funny how the idea of using magic didn't occur to her.)

So, apparently staring did work after a fashion as that was when someone finally decided to help her. Of course she wasn’t expecting it to be THE Neville Longbottom but she wasn’t going to complain in the least. She looked at him in surprise and turned a smile on immediately. It was funny how emotions could switch from one thing to the other so easily and quickly, particularly when it came to Neville. Ariana mentally chastised herself, why was she having to think things about Neville. They were mushy and romantic type of things. Other girls would go on and on about boys and it would cause her to frown and almost be sickened by the mushy romance that was talked about and yet here she was having some of those very thoughts play in her mind. “Yeah, thanks,” answered Ari as she fought the pink tint that was rising in her cheeks, particularly when he picked it up with such ease. I caused an odd flipping in the middle of her stomach.
“Harry isn’t too concerned about other people and Ron, well he’s Ron. They were gone before anyone could really say anything to them.” Ariana gave a shrug. Of course Harry was probably not inclined to help his little sister considering that she had hidden his broom kit and left a few other last minute surprises for him. The look on his face was priceless! Of course now she was sort of paying for it now, though she didn’t think Harry would have helped any way Ari’s opinion of her brother was that he was worthless any way, at least as far as brothers go.
Once she told him what was going on he took her trunk and loaded it in and everything without asking her where she was going, not that she was complaining. She waited and tried to quell the thoughts and feelings that were starting to rage in her. This was nothing! Neville was nice he was friendly! Then he came back and that smile was back on her face and she felt a little weak in the knees. He was inviting her to join him Seamus and Luna!? SCORE!! She just kept herself from squeaking with excitement and tried to play it causual. “Yeah, thanks! You’re a life saver Neville.” She took a seat across from him and watched as he ruffled his hair causing another little feeling to jump a bit that she quelled quietly keeping the smile on her face. This was going to be a long trip but she was certain she was going to love EVERY minute of it. “There isn’t much to say about my summer really. Just the usual…” Ari trailed off her words as it was communicated that Neville had just lost his wand.
In a flash Ariana’s face turned to that in concern and started to look around the compartment. Where could it be? “When did you last have it?” she asked the words of her mother coming out automatically. It was the question asked almost every time someone lost something. She didn’t see it anywhere from where she sat and got up to look. Maybe it got caught in the crack of the seats? Falling there when Neville was being all awesome with the trunks?

He would be there for her is she was his sister. She wasn't sure she was all keen on the idea of being his sister really but she liked how Neville would be there for the people that were supposed to be important in his life and that made her feel squishy inside again. She wanted to tell Neville how she was certain he would take care of his sister no matter what but everything in her mind sounded stupid and she liked his cute smile which also helped contribute to her muteness. Why did she have to feel and think this way. He cheeks flushed a bit again as he loaded her stuff up and she battered those feelings and thoughts down again. It was like she was playing whack a mole a muggle game she discovered where one thing would pop up and you would hit it but another would come and keeping the holes covered wasn't an option as there were so many holes. So by the time hse got one set of feelings squished down another set would come up rearing it's ugly head though when it came to Neville nothing was ugly.
When Neville found his wand Arianna felt a bit of relief flood her. She couldn't imagine loosing her wand. She may forget to use it but to be without it bothered her. She didn't even like it when her parents took it for safe keeping when visiting muggle areas. She wasn't going to use it well not much any way and not against muggles just against Harry (despite the whole no magic thing particularly around muggles while under age.) That rule was kind of stupid really, she wasn't going to be flamboyant and go "HEY LOOK! I've got a wand and can do MAGIC!" all spells would have been covert and against her brother a wizard not any muggle! "I'm glad you found it. I hate being without my wand," she answered deciding the whole tale about going to a muggle place and not having her wand was a story best left for another time.
When Neville told about his summer Ariana listened carefully and it didn't sound as boring as all that, though part of her wondered if he did do something incredibly awesome but just wasn't sharing because he was modest like that. Though it didn't really matter either. "Oh, Pleasure beach sound fun. My parents took Harry and I to this muggle amusement park type place where there were these odd muggle games and you could win prizes if you did well in the games. It was kind of fun!" she smiled at the memory loving how she beat Harry in a game or two.
"Yeah, I'm looking forward to going back to school. Maybe not the whole studying thing but I miss being at school and using magic and having everyone around." She gave a shrug at this. Yeah that seemed to sum up school and it gave her a chance to get away from her brother despite being in the same house at school she could get further than a few hundred feet away from him and the best thing was she could prank him in his sleep and he couldn't retaliate considering the ward on the girls dorm!

Ariana felt bad for Neville in the fact that he was always loosing things. It made sense because how many time before had he asked about his toad Trevor? Or was looking for something else? She'd never really thought to stop and help him and there was always Seamus who seemed good at helping find things. Maybe she would help more often too! She kind of liked that idea being able to help Neville out a bit. After all he helped her! It was only right and she kind of liked the idea of being around Neville. Why couldn't her brother be more like him. Not that she wanted Neville as a brother. She very much liked his as a not brother. "Well if you do loose something, I don't mind helping you look" Ari offered with a smile.
"Mum is always talking about electricity and taking us on a muggle trip every year. Some of the games ran on electricity at the amusement part. Some of the muggles even dressed up in weird clothing that would make our robes look normal!" That was something she didn't get if some muggles could wear those things why couldn't wizards wear their robes it wasn't all that different to her, though she happened to prefer muggle clothing because there were so many options and colors a person could use. Robes were one maybe two colors while Muggles could have a LOT of colors on a single garment and then do so many other colors in the other pieces. They wore a lot of things in pieces muggles did.
"I guess muggle plants are like muggle pictures then," remarked Ariana as she recalled some of her mum's old pictures that were still and didn't move. The pictures seemed boring but she supposed the plants could be interesting. At least Neville thought they were, and in some ways his excitement made her curious.
When Neville mentioned Hermione Ariana laughed. "I never really got Hermione or why she is in Gryffindor rather than Ravenclaw really." she gave a shrug. "Yeah it would be easier to absorb things like Hermione but if you were more like her then you'd be boring." Ariana frowned a little at that thought. She didn't like the idea of Neville being boring. She liked him just the way he was!

When Neville called her sweet she fought not to blush. She liked the idea of being sweet. No one had ever really called her sweet before and that made her feel good. Did he really think she was sweet? Ariana could have spent hours thinking about that particular concept if she could have had that time but she didn't and tried to quickly bash those ideas away to save it for another time.
Though they came bubbling back up at Neville suggested that she visit him at Blackpool. She didn't care if Harry would hate it, she would love it and it would be fun. She made a mental note to beg that the next family vacation be to the parks in Blackpool. "Muggles are kind of funny some times." decided Ari. They ware funny clothes and yet laugh at Neville the savior of the wizarding world because of his funny muggle clothing. It didn't make sense.
Ariana looked at the pictures Neville handed her and she looked on a bit surprised sure the plants didn't move but she liked them. "They are lovely! I think the tulips are my favorite." She looked through all of them and came back to the tulips. Her dad brought red roses home on occasion for her mum so she knew about them but she didn't know that they could come on bushes too!
"I don't think you should belong in Hufflepuff. I think you are pretty brave." offered Air looking down as a blush worked to creep it's way onto her face. "Even with plants you aren't boring," she offered with a smile finally getting the blush to feel like it stopped as she looked up at Neville. "You get all excited about it and it makes it interesting." She would happily listen to Neville talk about plants at this point.

Muggles were funny, and sometimes insane but Ari wasn't really sure Neville's grandmum was right about him never understanding muggles. "My mum is kind of big on my brother and I knowing about muggle stuff. She thinks it is important as that is what she grew up as. Somethings make sense but other things just don't." Ariana gave a shrug. "I think of all muggles my aunt and uncle and cousin are the most crazy. My mum and dad don't get on with them well, particularly my dad but we visited them once and we had to pretend to be muggle even though my aunt and uncle know we're magic. They always had their noses up turned and crinkled as if they could smell something bad. I was only about seven at the time." She shrugged. She didn't explain things very well but she remembered the disdained looks. Her aunt asked if she was 'normal' and seemed quite loathsome. She remembered how neat and pristine everything was and she couldn't do anything fun. It was an odd situation. The only good part was when her dad left a present behind when they left. She wished she could have seen their faces. She brushed the thought and memories aside as Neville continued to talk.
All plants were lovely? What about the screaming mandrakes? They were squashy fat ugly lumps in Ariana's opinion and a bit frightening to deal with, or Devil's snare? Were those lovely too? She wasn't sure that she agreed with Neville's assessment but she wasn't going to argue him and simply nodded and smiled as she gave the pictures back to Neville.
"Maybe they are already proud!" she offered with a bright smile to Neville. Sure he claimed it was all an accident and he wasn't good but he survived, He-who-must-not-be-named and he didn't seem all that scared of what could happen. "I mean if I were you, I would probably be scared and always looking over my shoulder."

Ari smiled at Neville as he talked about blood purity and knowing about her heritage, and he was right though her aunt uncle and cousin were a whole different breed. "I don't know if my muggle family can fall under the category of some muggles but aside from that they are pretty alright even if they do have some weird ways." With that Ariana shrugged her shoulders.
"I like to think they would be!" she encouraged with a smile. "I think you might still be a bit clumsy like my cousin Tonks. She trips over things all the time and breaks stuff, and is a disaster in the kitchen but she's still an awesome auror. I know if she could have been helped with being clumsy her parents would have helped her cause they seem pretty cool too!"
Then Neville admitted that he was indeed scared and that almost surprised Ari. She didn't expect that from him as he seemed so calm most of the time. Then he mentioned sneaky Slytherins. "Oh tell me about it! I think my brother is one of the worst of them!" She gave a slight roll of her eyes at the thought of her brother.
